Qualifications & Experience

 

Rene Zacchini holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Monash University and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He has worked across a range of settings, including university counselling services, paediatric oncology units, and with emergency services personnel experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Rene has also contributed to research in the areas of first-episode schizophrenia and athlete mental health.
 

Rene provides individual psychological therapy for adults seeking support with:
 

  • Anxiety (including generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and phobias)

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma (including PTSD)

  • Stress and burnout

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Sleep difficulties, including insomnia

Rene is a warm, compassionate, and thoughtful psychologist who aims to create a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their inner world and life experiences. He works in a collaborative and person-centred way, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs, goals, and circumstances. Rene places strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and uses in-session experiences to guide and inform the work, while always remaining respectful, attuned, and client-focused.
 

Rene draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including:
 

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Medicare rebates may be available with a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan issued by a GP. Private health rebates may also be available depending on your health insurance policy.

Rene also sees clients who have WorkSafe, TAC and VOCAT funding.
