Therapeutic Approach / Area of Expertise

Jennifer has extensive experience in community mental health as well as in private practice. She has worked as clinical case manager, care coordinator, triage clinician, mental health practitioner, and clinical psychologist, assessing and treating a wide range of psychological issues and challenges.

Jennifer became a psychologist because she believes that everyone should be able to live a rewarding life pursuing their goals. Often individuals feel a sense that this is not materialising for them and develop anxiety, depression or other disorders. She collaborates with her clients so they are able to see unhelpful life patterns, ways of thinking or behaving, that are not congruent with living the life they desire and helps them make changes. As a person with extensive life experience across many roles Jennifer is able to offer a broad perspective to her clients problems. Jennifer believes that acceptance of what is currently happening in their life leads the way to help the client make the changes  that they need to.

Jennifer utilises a range of evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Solution Focussed Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in the treatment of the following issues:

  • Anxiety, including social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Depression and bipolar disorder

  • Personality disorder (in particular, Borderline Personality Disorder)
