Therapeutic Approach

Carla is a warm and compassionate psychologist who aims to help people build rich and meaningful lives.  As Carla believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for positive change, she first focuses on ensuring that the partnership between therapist and client is the right fit. She aims to provide a collaborative and supportive space to help her clients safely explore, understand and gently challenge their belief systems and patterns of behaviour. This process can include developing an understanding of how earlier life experiences contribute to current difficulties. Carla works with her clients to foster insight and growth, and teaches helpful skills and strategies for wellbeing.

Carla is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure she uses evidence-based approaches that best fit the challenges experienced by each person. She is experienced in the application of therapy types including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness-based approaches.
