Therapeutic Approach / Area of Expertise
Carolyn primarily offers 'psychotherapy'. Psychotherapy is a form of treatment that focuses on the thinking and emotional aspects of a person. She will think with you about ways to understand and manage present difficulties and will work with you towards developing more of an emotional understanding of your concerns. She applies contemporary evidence-based treatments based on psychodynamic models, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and attachment-theory. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
For those with a psychotic illness or caring for a loved one with psychosis, she approaches the work with an initial phase of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) before using a psychodynamic approach, which aims to facilitate a deep understanding about how someone’s unique experience came to have a particular expression.
Carolyn works with clients aged from 16 years and onwards.
Please note, Carolyn does not offer couples therapy or report-writing services for forensic or medicolegal purposes.
